This is the first app I've been inspired enough to review. This does a beautiful job conveying real, up to date scientific information at a variety of levels. It's beautifully done, and the radial velocity and transit animations are particularly impressive. I'm amazed at all the work that went into this, and it's free. (11 October 2010)

Apps like this are what make the iThing great. A small app that gives you vast amounts of information on a subject most of us wouldn't normally bother to learn about. Getting push notifications when they discover a new planet is incredibly exciting. Seeing the total of known planets increase every time I open the app is surprisingly thrilling. This app connects you to those discoveries. It's made by an enthusiast, not a professional app developer, and you can see this enthusiasm in it. The presentation is excellent and constantly improving; the developer really makes an effort. The spinning globes are especially striking. In short, here's an app that shows why iPhones and the like are more than shiny toys; they can connect you to the wider universe and show you new wonders in an easy and intimate way. Thank you!
